Trichy is the central city in the Tamilnadu state, a thriving commercial centre in Tamilnadu, situated on the banks of the river Cauvery, is fast emerging as a favored destination for Information Technology Enabled Services. The presence of Prestigious National Institute of Technology in Trichy along with other Engineering colleges and Arts and Science colleges made the total strength of the Colleges to around 35 in numbers which are producing large number of Engineering and Arts & Science students. Apart from that, STPI – Trichy is one of the international Gateway of STPI - Chennai, which is located at the Regional Engineering College Campus, TREC STEP, Trichy. STPI - Chennai has commissioned medium sized Ku-Band gateways at Trichy to cater to customer's IP requirements. A C-Band F2 Earth-station is also under the commissioning stage to cater to IPLC requirements of customers. This sub-center has a capacity of expanding up to 15 Mbps.
